Las Vegas, NV – It’s been a week of intense dancing as the 2012 Hip Hop International World Hip Hop Dance Championships wraps up its competition tonight at the Orleans Arena with the finals in junior, varsity and adult divisions.
In the junior division, current gold medal winner Bubblegum of New Zealand is favored to win a second gold. However, Flip of Canada is not far behind in their dance moves as they hope to overtake the kiwi girl dance crew for the gold medal tonight.
In the varsity division, it looks like the nation of the rising sun, may take gold and silver after their two Japanese crews placed in the two top spot during the semi finals. Sol-T-Shine in first and Zero in second with New Zealand’s Sorority taking third. Sorority may still have a chance to over take the two Japanese crews if they don’t stay in sync with their dance moves.
The adult division has been the tightest in recent years as The Crew from the Philippines jumped in the preliminary from 5th place to 1st place during the semi-finals. Academy of Villains from the United States has been the crowd favorite since the beginning of the competition as Neutral Zone of Mexico made a surprising mark by placing 2nd during the semi-final round. The United States other medal contention hopes is with the current ABDC season 7 winner, Elektrolytes as they placed fourth in the semi-finals. Anonymous sources say that Elektrolytes may have a few extra moves to hopefully catapult them to the gold medal platform.
Hip hop dance fans will have to wait until tonight to see if U.S. reps Academy of Villains and Elektrolytes moves will make Philippines’ The Crew “mid air moonwalk” look like an amateur move.
All this happening tonight at the Orleans Arena at 7:30pm. For ticket information, visit hiphopinternational.com or call the Orleans Arena box office at 702-284-7777
