Hip Hop International (HHI), the most respected organization in the world of street dance, announced that renowned dance crew Jabbawockeez will be presented with HHI’s prestigious Living Legend of Hip Hop Award at the 11th annual World Hip Hop Dance Championship Finals on August 5 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
“Jabbawockeez will become the first dance crew in Hip Hop International’s 11-year history to receive the Living Legend of Hip Hop Award,” said HHI President Howard Schwartz. “The dance crew’s unmatched mystic and captivating performance style launched the group from street credible to world famous through live performances and high profile media attention. In the process, they have inspired many of their fellow street dancers to pursue careers and reach for their dreams in dance.”
Each year, Hip Hop International presents its Living Legend of Hip Hop Award to influential individuals for their indelible contributions to hip hop and street dance culture. Past recipients include Randy Jackson, MC Hammer, DJ Kool Herc, Boogaloo Sam, Tommy the Clown,
Don “Campbellock” Campbell, Toni Basil and Grandmaster Caz. This is the first time HHI will present its Living Legend of Hip Award to a dance crew.
Hip Hop International is the organizer of the USA & World Hip Hop Dance Championships and the creator of “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew,” which just completed its seventh season on MTV. Long before dance became a ratings sensation on television, Hip Hop International ushered in an era of respect for street dance with the creation of the USA & World Hip Dance Championships in 2002.
Jabbawockeez will be presented the Award in front of an audience of more than 6,000 including 2,500 of the world’s best dance crews, b-boys, poppers, lockers and all stylers from 40 nations at the World Hip Hop Dance Championship Finals.
