Las Vegas – It was almost a Japan sweep of the top three but Canada’s Brotherhood did make that happen as they took the 1st place standing for the semi-final round. Defending champion Sol-T-Shine was knocked off its top spot and left to take 2nd place.

The competition is still wide open.

Las Vegas – It was no surprise as J.B. Star Varsity took the top spot in today’s world varsity preliminary.

Crowd favorite, Brotherhood of Canada came in second while The Netherlands made a big surprise landing in 3rd place. 24 teams will return to the stage for the semi-finals along with defending champion Sol-T-Shine of Japan.

Las Vegas – Heading into the finals of the 2013 USA varsity division finals, current defending champion Bandits of Honolulu, HI headed into the competition placing 12 out of 16 finalists.

New crew Brobots of Torrance, CA became the fan and judges favorites heading into the finals.

Another new crew Vibe of Pleasant Grove, UT also made it harder for the Bandits to  grab the gold.

Early on, Kaba Kids of Irvine, CA roused the crowd with bit of their dustup moves.

However, there was little change in the placement from the preliminary standings.

And your USA Varsity Division Winners for 2013 are (rank, score, crew):

3. Bronze 8.42 – Prophecy of Suisun City, CA
2. Silver 8.67 – Brobots of Torrance, CA
1. Gold 8.69 – RNG of Seattle, WA

These three crews will represent in Team USA as they move on to the 2013 World Hip Hop Dance Championships commencing this Tuesday with the world opening ceremony.

Las Vegas – It was a long road, but now it’s here at the 2013 USA Hip Hop Championship finals commenced with the Junior Division.

Host Mookie Washington along with co-host AJ Maldonado pumped the crowd for the upcoming performances.

Up first was junior crew Genex of New York as they worked the stage. Keeping up the momentum was First Class from West Covina, Ca. One of the favorites to medal in their division, First Class got the crowd roaring with their performance.

Another crowd favorite was home grown team The Prodigy. With fancy footwork and hard moves and smooth body waves, the crowd yelled throughout The Prodigy’s routine.

East coast favorites Iconic from Englishtown, NJ were announced, young ladies in the audience chanted, “Iconic! Iconic! Iconic!” The crew didn’t disappoint as they took elements of vogue, popping and while utilizing slow and fast moves.

Rounding out the junior division finals were ChapKidz, Lil Phunk and the defending champions Rascals of Honolulu, HI.

Unfotunately, the fancy footwork and elaborate moves would not help pull the gold medal away from the ladies of Hawaii.

And the medals for USA Junior Division goes to:

3. Bronze 7.91 – Iconic of Englishtown, NJ
2. Silver – 8.10 – Lil Phunk of Boston, MA
1. Gold – 8.30 – Rascals of Honolulu, HI

The three crews are now part of Team USA as they go on to the World Hip Hop Dance Championship commencing this coming Wednesday at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. They will be over 42 nations the USA will be competing against.

Las Vegas, NV – Originally thought of as a surprise top three crew in the semi-finals of the adult division of the 2012 Hip Hop International World Hip Hop Dance Championships, Philippines‘ The Crew took home the gold for the island nation as Neutral Zone of Mexico took silver and Academy of Villains took the bronze medal to round out the top three in the finals held at the Orleans Arena this past Sunday, August 5, 2012.

It was a long road for the gold medal winner as they did not expect to win gold. After their addition of the “mid-air moonwalk,” during the semi-finals, the judges and audience were swayed to consider The Crew for gold medal status. Strong finishers Neutral Zone and Academy of Villains were crowd favorites from the very beginning.

In the varsity division, Japan’s Sol-T-Shine took home the gold while Sorority of New Zealand took silver and Japan’s J.B. Star Varsity received the bronze medal.

For the junior division, Bubblegum of New Zealand won the gold giving them a back to back win from the year before. Taking the silver was Flip of Canada and the bronze went to Onizawa Ikka of Japan.

Las Vegas, NV -  The megacrew division has definitely grown from its initial premiere at Hip Hop International last year. With more crews from around the sending delegates to compete, the competition has been tighter.

That hasn’t stopped last year’s gold medal winning crew Royal Family of New Zealand as the crowd roared even before the crew came on stage today to perform at the finals. As they commenced their performance the crowd did not let up with the support for the Royal Family.

GRV, UP Streetdance and Academy of Swag gave the Royal Family a run for the crown of gold but in the end, the kiwi crew took home the gold.

The varsity division semi-finals round had tough competition as Sol-T-Shine of Japan brought the house down. However the Bandits of the USA gave Sol-T-Shine the run for their money.

Current world varsity crew winner Sorority had illustrated why they took the gold last year and hopes to move to finals to secure a second gold medal.

A surprise hit with the crowd was Russia’s Lil Dance with their militaristic number.

However as with any competition, competitors must be eliminated. With that said, the semi-final results are as follows:

Las Vegas, NV – It was another big night for Pacific Rim nations as Royal Family (New Zealand), UP Streetdance Club & LaSalle Dance Company Street (Philippines) along with Academy of Brothers from Australia took spots in the top fifteen moving them to the finals of the World Mega Crew competition at the 2012 Hip Hop International World Dance Championships held at the Red Rock Resort. No one doubted that Royal Family would take top spot. It was a blessing for the Philippines as both crews competed for the first time at the event. The Aussies had to be proud having to deal with a long flight delay to get to the Las Vegas. It was blessing that they made it to the top 15 out of 31 crews.

For the United States, Academy of Swag and Academy of Hype’s swagger grooves took them to the finals. It was a graduation for them as both crews are part of a bigger family known as the Skool District. The other countries of the Americas also advanced to the finals -  Mexico’s Neutral Zone and Canada’s Praise Team.

Not to be left out, European countries also had a strong showing with 7 Company & Beat Kings of Italy, The Dutch Connection of The Netherlands, Blackout of Spain and Team Recycled of Germany took berths in the top 15.

Attendees can’t wait to see Royal Family and UP Street Dance Club battle it out along with the crews of the Skool District. A group of attendees conferred with each other that they would love to see a collaboration between Royal Family and UP Streetdance Club.
